Buddhism has been introduced to China for more than 1,000 years. It has great influence on Chinese culture. There are many ancient temples around the country. In Beijing, there are lots of places of interest reltaed with Buddhism.

Tanzhe Temple

Tanzhe Temple has a history of more than 1,700 years. It is one of the oldest temples in Beijing. It was built in 307. It is said that Tanzhe Temple existed before Beijing city. It is a busy and crowded place of worship for Buddhists. Several emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties have renovated the temple.

Yunju Temple

Badachu

Badachu has eight ancient temples. It was built in the late Sui Dynasty and early Tang Dynasty. Badachu is surrounded by three mountains. It has picturesque landscape. It is famous for Buddhist relics of Sakyamuni, the wall of Prajna Paramita and 500 arhat carvings in relief.

Wofo Temple

Wofo Temple was built in Tang Dynasty. It got its name bacause a lying bronze statue of Sakyamuni was built in Yuan Dynasty. The statue is 5.2m long, built with copper of 25,000kg.
