The #OMGB (Oh My GREAT Britain) ‘Home of Amazing Moments’ print and digital campaign showcases the incredible experiences that can only be had in Britain. As part of the campaign, British Airways is offering discounted airfares of up to 20% with VisitBritain offering a competition to win a trip for two from South Africa to the UK.

Competition winners will be able to experience one of four amazing moments – from riding the world’s fastest zip line in Wales or relaxing at a spa in Cardiff to living like royalty at a Scottish castle or soaking up the atmosphere at a Manchester United football game.

VisitBritain Director Sumathi Ramanathan said: ”There are so many great things going on across Britain this year from literary anniversaries to major sporting events. By showcasing the incredible experiences on offer and getting great tactical fares in market we want to inspire even more visitors from South Africa to come and discover their own amazing moments. It is a great time to come to Britain.”

British Airways’ commercial manager for southern Africa Sue Petrie said:”There’s so much more to the UK than sightseeing and shopping in London. Who knew the world’s fastest zipline is in Wales? We hope that South Africans take advantage of these fares to explore much more of what Britain has to offer.”

Visitors from South Africa stay longer and spend more in Britain, spending on average £1064 per visit, compared to an average of £611 for all markets. They stay an average of 13 nights in Britain per visit, compared to a global average of 8 nights.

Latest full year figures available show that there were 231,000 visits from South Africa to the UK in 2015, up 7% on 2014, with visitors spending £246 million, up 7% on 2014.

As at the end of February 2017, the UK was 27% cheaper for visitors from South Africa than it was the same month last year.

The #OMGB ‘Home of Amazing Moments’ campaign is part of the UK Government’s GREAT Britain campaign which showcases what makes Britain a great place to visit, study, invest and do business.
