Golf Tourism in Italy Rose by 40 Percent

It was revealed by the 2017 World Travel Market in a recent research that six out of ten UK people would prefer visiting Italy rather than US, Greece and Spain. It further adds that Italy is the number one destination for travellers in 2018 and things appeared promising for Italian golf.

The latest figures showed that there was an increase in the number of international green fees booked by 40 per cent in the last three years. Italy has been the number one destination for travellers in 2018.

The country's golf tourism was experiencing a boom as players were keen on experiencing the European golf tourism.

Italy will be hosting the Ryder Cup for the first time in 2022, the momentum continues to grow ahead of it and the number of rounds played by the international golfers rose by 200,000 between 2014 and 2017. The Italy Golf & More –the first Italian international promotional golf project is leading the way.

A majority of the specialist tour operators switched to Italy as a golf destination, the country was popular with players from the UK, Germany, Switzerland, France and Scandinavia and the positive impact was also felt by the European golf tourism industry during the same period.

At the International Golf Travel Market, 26 exhibitors from 11 different regions will come to Cannes on the French Riviera showcasing Italy's extensive golf offering to a global industry audience.

Throughout the week there will be discussion to promote Italy in the future by representatives from a combination of golf clubs, regional tourists boards and tour operators across different regions.

There is a real appetite for people to play golf in Italy in the growing numbers of international golfers that Italy continues to attract said Bruno Bertero, the project co-ordinator for Italy Golf & more.

The response received after the concerted effort of promoting Italian golf had been outstanding and the numbers will continue to grow in 2018 and beyond.
