Tourist numbers in North Macedonia up 2.9 pct in April

The number of tourists visiting North Macedonia in April increased by 2.9 percent year-on-year, the State Statistical Office (SSO) said in a report on Wednesday.

According to official data, a total of 85,017 tourists visited the country in April.

The number of nights spent in tourist accommodation was 166,238, up 1.3 percent year-on-year.

In the same month, the number of domestic tourists increased by 6.5 percent and that of foreign tourists by 1.5 percent.

The number of nights spent by domestic and foreign tourists increased by 3.3 percent and by 0.1 percent, respectively, year-on-year.

In the period between January and April 2019, compared to the same period last year, the number of tourists visiting the country increased by 2.4 percent, while the number nights spent by them in North Macedonia increased by 0.8 percent.
