At least 60 countries from across the world are expected to participate in the Swahili International Tourism Expo (SITE) to be held in Tanzania's commercial capital Dar es Salaam in October, organizers said on Wednesday.
Devota Mdachi, the Managing Director of the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) and organizer of the expo, said 200 tourist companies from the 60 countries and 400 tourist agents will take part in the expo.
SITE showcases the travel possibilities in Tanzania within and beyond the well-known attractions in national parks, around Mount Kilimanjaro and on the beautiful beaches on the Island of Zanzibar.
"Tanzanian embassies abroad have done an excellent job of registering tourist companies and agents, and media companies to participate in the tourism expo," Mdachi told a news conference in Dar es Salaam.
Mdachi said the tourism expo will be held from October 18 to October 20.
A report released in June 2017 rated Tanzania's tourism industry as one of the fastest growing sectors in the country with figures showing a surge on tourist arrivals.
The report was jointly compiled by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, the Bank of Tanzania, the National Bureau of Statistics, the Immigration Department and the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism.
