Hungary received more foreign visitors in September compared with the same period of last year, showed official figures revealed here on Tuesday.
"In September 2019, the number of foreign visitors to Hungary increased by 2.6 percent compared to September 2018," the Hungarian Tourism Agency said in a statement.
"Hungarians are also traveling more. The number of domestic guests in September was 527,000, and the number of guest nights spent by them was 1.1 million," the statement added.
The performance of Hungarian tourism has been increasing year by year since 2010, according to the tourism agency.
Tourism is one of the pillars of the Hungarian economy. Tourism revenues could grow by 10 percent this year, and the sector accounts for 11 percent of Hungary's GDP, which could be raised to 16 percent by 2030, according to the official plans of the Hungarian Tourism Agency.
