The seminar witnessed the presence of Luis Cabello, Trade and Tourism Counsellor of Peru in India and Aromica Bhattacharya, Specialist in Tourism. During the assembly, the spokesperson shared insights on the lesser-known attractions, thus highlighting ‘Peru Beyond Machu Picchu’ which will entice more travellers from India. The team, during its course of interaction, also shared that in 2018, the total numbers from India were 8 742, representing a 21% year-on-year increase. In 2019, the numbers have been extremely promising.
The tourism board is further expanding its reach into the luxury segment and sub-segments such as honeymooners, history lovers. Adventure is another segment which has been growing exponentially, reflected in the fact that the readers and followers of the prestigious magazine Travel+Leisure´s India recently recognised Peru as the Best Adventure Destination 2019 in their annual India´s Best Awards. Finally, they will also be strategically foraying into the lucrative wedding destination segment, while also promoting specialised gastronomical tours in Peru.
