【Introduction】:I think that WTCF has the potential to be the top resource authority for cities across the globe to better understand the importance of tourism in bringing people together and also in giving cities the most advanced tools to market and promote their cities and their regions.

Experience a city by walking

In Boston we always stress how easy it is to walk around our city. We have a number of walking trails and tours that highlight Boston’s history and culture and we also promote Boston as America’s Walking City. The ability to navigate and experience a city by walking provides a unique perspective and every visitor to Boston should include a walking tour as part of their Boston itinerary. We operate a Visitor Information Center that is staffed with experts on Boston and we always encourage visitors to stop by our Center to speak with one of our Boston experts about tours of all kinds from walking tours to harbor cruises to sightseeing vehicle tours like Boston Duck Tours. All of this information is available online as well at www.bostonusa.com.

Boston 2030

Boston has just unveiled a plan called Boston 2030 that was part of a two year “city reimagining” exercise that was launched by Mayor Martin Walsh to seek ideas and input from all of Boston’s neighborhoods and residents on our city’s future as it relates to culture, transportation and livability.

Collaborations is indeed a way of life in Boston

We are focusing on the unique and varied opportunities that Boston as a waterfront city provides visitors especially the opportunity to visit and explore the Boston harbor islands. For Boston collaborations is indeed a way of life and we have been focused on expanding those relationships in order to market and promote our city worldwide. We have collaborations not only through our Sister City networks but also with international associations and of course with the World Tourism Cities Federation. We have also collaborated on marketing initiatives with other US cities such as New York City, Philadelphia and Washington DC along with AMTRAK.

Share best practices in the marketing of a destination through WTCF

While I have not had the opportunity to attend a WTCF event our SVP and our Marketing Manager for China have attended WTCF events. WTCF provides us with amazing opportunities to better understand Chinese culture and an incredible way to share best practices in the marketing of a destination.
