Yanqing Ice and Snow Tourism Festival

Introduction

Yanqing Ice and Snow Tourism Festival is a winter tourism festival that has a relatively large influence in Northern China. The festival has always been famous for rich and wonderful ice-snow landscape, activities, and unique folk landscape. The main activities include Longqingxia Ice-lantern, alpine skiing, snowmobiling, hot spring in the ski resort, Snow Temple Fair, etc. Activities are held in Longqinxia and Shijinglong ski resort.

Activity arrangements in 2015

30th Yanqing Ice and Snow Tourism Festival will last until the end of February 2016. In less than 100 days, Yanqing will host 20 activities divided into four categories, ice-snow events, ice-snow training, ice-snow tourism and cultural promotion. There is one every five days, on average. These activities include New Year’s climbing ice CuQiu game, World Snow Day and International Children Skiing Festival, Ice Marathon, Beijing University Students Alpine Skiing Competition, and Beijing public skiing competitions.

Longqingxia Ice-lantern Festival: Longqingxia Ice-lantern Art Festival will start receiving tourists in mid-January, 2016. With winter Olympics as the core theme, this session is the most distinctive one in recent years. The total exhibition area of Ice Lantern Art Festival, covering 200,000 square meters, is divided into lantern area, entertainment area, and ice exhibition area. Among them, are 350 groups of lanterns, thousands-meter-long Great Wall lamp, and tens of thousands of decorative lamps in the lantern area. Meanwhile, the ice exhibition area is designed with the elements of Winter Olympics, including a total of 350 Ice-lantern works, 200 ice sculptures, and 100 snow sculptures.

Challenge Race of Running: Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics will officially begin on February 4. Yanqing specially plans to hold Badaling-Xiaohaituo Mountain Running Challenge Winter Olympics in February 4, 2016. On that day, 2022 professional marathoners and amateurs will run to Xiaohaituo Mountain from the Badaling Great Wall, with the implied meaning “watch the Winter Olympics at the foot of the Great Wall.” In addition to traditional items, Yanqing will create a new ice world in the county— a new outdoor skating rink measuring nearly 20,000 square meters.

Ice lantern 100 yuan/person, student ticket 50yuan/person; elderly ticket 35yuan/person (with Senior Citizen Certificate)

Transportation:

1. Take Bus No 919 direct to Yanqing at Deshengmen and get off at Yanqing Dongguan Station. Then walk to Guishuibeijie South Station and transferto Bus No 875.

2. Take suburban railway line S2 to Yanqing station at Xizhimen Beijing North Railway Station, transfer to Y10 to Guishuibeijie South Station, and then take bus No 875.
