【Introduction】：One of the oldest and largest wine events in the world, the Vancouver International Wine Festival brings together

One of the oldest and largest wine events in the world, the Vancouver International Wine Festival brings together 25,000 enthusiasts in late February each year, from the vino newbie to the experienced sommelier. Unlike other festivals that focus on trade and wine insiders, the majority of the VIWF’s events are open to the general public.

The heart of the festival is the International Festival Tasting Room, held over three days, giving attendees the chance to sample any or all of the 700+ wines from around the world being poured. The festival chooses a feature region each year—past examples include Italy, Spain, Australia and California, with this region’s wines highlighted through many of the festivals events and tastings. British Columbia’s own wines are well represented in both the tasting room and at events throughout the festival.

In addition to the larger tastings, you’ll find wine dinners at some of the city’s best restaurants, vertical tastings, seminars, multi-winery brunches and lunches.
