King’s Day

Activities: Dutch King’s Day was originally called Queen’s Day. It is the birthday of the Dutch monarchy and was renamed as King’s Day after Dutch King; Willem Alexander succeeded the throne in 2013. On the day of the festival, streets will be filled with the red, white and blue flag of the Netherlands, and the orange flag on behalf of royalty. Parade and lively concerts can also be seen. People cheerfully celebrate this important day and many locals and tourists will dress in orange. The whole country is shrouded in an “orange” color everywhere. This is the only time of year that anyone can set up a stall to sell goods.
