1848 Revolution Memorial Day

In order to commemorate the revolution of 1848, which grew into a war of independence from the Hapsburg-ruled Austrian Empire,every year on March 15, Hungarians celebrate this day with formal speeches, concerts, and other festive events. Many Hungarians wear a cockade with the national colors – red, white, and green.
