Event introduction: according to "Yongding County History" published in 1876 (Qing Dynasty), the Lantern Festival in Zhangjiajie has a long history. After the inheritance and development, Lantern Festival continues to move to a new level. Nowadays Lantern Festival activities are divided into two categories: special lantern shows, and Lantern Festival celebrations. For special lantern shows, you have theme lantern show, featured lantern show, and landscape lantern show. For Lantern Festival celebrations, there are folk groups for lion lanterns, dragon dance, flower lanterns, drum team, and lotus-gathering fleet.

It is one of the busiest festivals in Zhangjiajie -- all the people will go out and gather together on the street in the evening on that day, cars and buses are not allowed to run on the street. Now Lantern Festival is popular among tourists from both home and abroad.

There are many performances such as the Dragon Dance, Lion Dance, and local opera, as well as modern hip-hop shows and Grass Dragon Lantern performance from foreign friends, which provide great enjoyment for tourists. In order to perform well in Lantern Festival, they will practice two months in advance. At the night of Lantern Festival, they unify the costumes, and their wonderful performances leave an unforgettable memory to the public and tourists.
