Sanya saw record high tourist arrivals and tourism revenue during the week-long 2017 Spring Festival holiday, according to statistics released by the Sanya Tourism Development Commission on February 2nd, 2017.
Tourist Arrivals
The city received 957,300 tourists during the seven-day 2017 Spring Festival golden week, including 819,200 overnight tourists, up 14.07 percent and 14.98 percent respectively compared with the same period last year.
Scenic Spots
Seven major scenic spots in Sanya together received a total of 1.01 million visitors during the 2017 Spring Festival golden week, up 10.29 percent compared with the same period last year.

Among the seven major scenic spots, Sanya Romance Park saw a total of 268,500 visitors, Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone received 279,200 visitors, Tianya Haijiao Scenic Spot received 231,900 visitors, Wuzhizhou Island received 78,100 visitors, Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park received 77,200 visitors, Dongtian Park received 38,900 visitors and West Island received 36,200 visitors.

Tourist Consumption
Tourism revenue during the holiday reached RMB 9.06 billion, a year-on-year growth rate of 19.6 percent. The per-capita consumption of overnight visitors was RMB 2358.59 per day during the holiday, and the per-capita consumption of one-day tour visitors reached RMB 857.45.
The retail sales of consumer goods across the city totaled RMB 655.14 million, up 10.43 percent year-on-year. Over 239,000 visitors flocked to the Sanya International Duty-free Complex, up 26.87 percent year-on-year, and total sales revenue increased 6.66 percent to reach RMB 279.77 million.
Hotel Room Occupancy
The hotel room occupancy rate across the city averaged 77.94 percent, a year-on-year increase of 4.35 percent (given the fact that the number of hotel rooms across the city has increased 12.83 percent year-on-year). The average hotel occupancy rate in the Yalong Bay area stood at 80.94 percent, 78.18 percent in the Haitang Bay area, 78.54 percent in the Sanya Bay area, 78.37 percent in the Dadonghai area, and 73.29 percent in the downtown area.
Air and Rail Transport
The city handled 843,400 passengers during the week-long holiday, a year-on-year increase of 13.28 percent. Sanya Phoenix International Airport operated a total of 2,698 flights and passenger throughput reached 467,000, a year-on-year increase of 5.2 percent and 6.7 percent respectively. Meanwhile, Sanya Railway Station saw 376,400 passengers, up 22.62 percent year-on-year.
During the week-long holiday, about 60,000 staffs from tourism departments, tourism enterprises, media members and volunteers were on duty to handle and improve the citywide tourist services in order to ensure a safe and sound tourism environment for visitors.
