Anne Frank is one of the most famous residents of Amsterdam. The former residence of Anne Frank is located at No 263 of Prinsengracht, Amsterdam. During World War Ⅱ, Anne and her family once hid themselves here for over two years. Now, this place is turned into a museum that narrates the history of how the Jewish population suffered from the persecution of war and racial discrimination.
The Hiding Place
The way leading to the hiding place was secretly built behind a movable bookcase. On August 4, 1944, Ann was betrayed and that led to the occupants, who were hiding from the Germans, being driven to concentration camps. Otto Frank was the only survivor among these people. The diary written by Anne during this period was published and subsequently became an international bestseller.
