【Introduction】:Namdo Traditional Food Museum is located at No. 2 of 779, Samgak-dong, Buk-gu (North district), Gwangju Metropolitan City.

Namdo Traditional Food Museum is located at No. 2 of 779, Samgak-dong, Buk-gu (North district), Gwangju Metropolitan City. As we enter the museum, a big symbol with pot shape comes into view. Beside it are a lot of pictures related to foods that make visitors feel pleasant. The permanent exhibition of native local foods is a kernel of the museum. It is possible for people to look into the culture of the eating habits from the New Stone Age to the civilized period through the touch screen, relics, videos and graphic panels. In addition, we can see the Namdo (the south-western part of Korea) traditional food with the specialty of the region. Those are charcoal-broiled meat of Gwangyang, Ddeokgalbi of Damyang, braised redfish of Mokpo, fried mulberry leaves of Hwasun, flower rice cake of Gwangju and pickled Japanese apricot of Gangjin.

The museum shop is a complex space which exhibits and sells the diverse native plates such as home-brewed liquor, Korean cookies earthenware, and all kinds of vessels and can enjoy reading books and drinking tea.

Namdo folk wine is loved by many people. It is because the place is the most productive district of rice. Traditional wine of Nagan (Sasamju), red wine of Jindo, Jinyangju wine in Haenam, Ganghaju wine of Yeonggwang, and pear wine of Naju are famous. In the traditional teas of Namdo there are the green tea of Boseong, Sansuyu (cornus officinalis) tea of Gurye, citron tea of Goheung, and wild strawberry tea of Hampyeong.

“Museum Studio” is a facility to introduce this museum, to watch the video and programs and listen to the diverse lectures. The experience hall is divided into the one for children, preparation room and the traditional food hall. People can make food in the hall. Diverse lectures are also prepared for visitors.
