The Australia Associated Press (APP) has reported on Air China’s announcement that it will offer direct flight services from Beijing to Melbourne, starting this June.In what Tourism Minister John Eren says is a vote of confidence in tourism growth for the state of Victoria, where Melbourne is located.
The Chinese flagship carrier will offer four flights a week starting June 1st.They plan to increase the flights to a daily basis by Jan 25 of next year.
“Air China’s plan brings one of the world’s largest tourism markets even closer to our shores,” he said. “Visitors will support our employment and businesses, which will contribute billions to our economy.”
More than 365,000 tourists visited Victoria from September to December 2014, contributing 1.2 billion dollars to the state’s economy.
