In a show of solidarity graffiti artists the world over have been painting walls and public spaces in the French tricolour, blue, white and red. The hashtag #SprayForParis has been gaining momentum on Twitter over the past few days, revealing beautiful homages to Paris and the victims of the Friday 13th attacks, with ‘fluctuat nec mergitur’, Latin for ‘tossed but not sunk’. Demonstrations have been banned in the city since the attacks, but Parisians have been spontaneously gathering all week outside the restaurants, cafes and concert hall hit in the attacks to leave flowers, light candles or hold quiet vigils.
