TripAdvisor has received a license to sell travel services to Cuba.
The license, granted by the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, enables TripAdvisor "to promote educational and cultural engagement between global travellers and the Cuban people."
TripAdvisor, like all other travel sellers in the U.S., can only facilitate Cuba travel that falls under one 12 approved reasons, which include educational activities, family visits and humanitarian projects.
Under the license received, TripAdvisor can facilitate Cuba bookings through its instant booking platform for hotels, hotel price comparison search, flights, display advertising, cultural tours and attractions, and short-term rentals.
TripAdvisor said it expects to start selling Cuba within the next few months.
