TripAdvisor Invests in Traxo

TripAdvisor is leading a $5.2 million financing round for travel data company Traxo. Traxo's clients include Lufthansa and travel management firm Travel and Transport.

The financing will go toward Traxo's technology initiatives as well as sales and marketing. TripAdvisor will join the company's board of directors.

TripAdvisor has not previously invested in the company. Traxo CEO Andres Fabris said in a statement that the funding from TripAdvisor validates his company's technology platform.

"Traxo's foundational mission -- to make traveling easier by facilitating the seamless flow of critical travel data -- aligns with TripAdvisor's overall focus on helping travelers experience a better start-to-finish trip," said Adam Medros, TripAdvisor's senior vice president of global products. "As part of this investment, TripAdvisor believes our resources and knowledge can further scale Traxo's ability to help more travelers have a seamless journey."

In addition to TripAdvisor, several other investors participated in this financing round: Thayer Ventures, Advantage Capital Partners, Silver Creek Ventures and Aristos Ventures.
