TOKYO, February 27, 2018 - All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest and only 5-Star airline, announces that CSR will be a vital component of the ANA Group's Mid-Term Corporate Strategy for FY2018-2022.

This announcement follows ANA's recent notable awards for "Best Corporate Social Responsibility Programme" and "Best Airline of the Year" by Business Travel Awards, the industry-wide benchmark in excellence, in January 2018. The Business Travel awards bring together more than 1200 of the travel industry's leaders and top corporate clients, to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the travel industry's leading businesses, teams, and individuals who have performed outstandingly in their chosen field over the last 12 months. ANA was recognized at the award ceremony for its comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility programme, including its commitment to a sustainable environment, its human rights initiatives such as the Blue Number Initiative*1 and the partnership with Food Bank Singapore for donations of un-used in-flight meals, and its pro-active promotion of diversity and inclusion.

ANA will continue to address various social issues in Japan and in numerous locations around the world in 2018, and will strengthen its business foundation by continuously investing in appropriate business and social needs. ANA is set to achieve its social value creations in three areas:

1. Sustainable Environment

For a sustainable environment, ANA will continue the introduction of fuel-efficient aircraft into their network with the target to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% (from FY2005 to FY2020). As part of "ANA Fly Eco 2020", an initiative launched in FY2013, ANA supports Eugelena Co Ltd, a bio jet-fuel maker which aims to commercialize jet fuel made from green algae output in 2020's.The initiative will involve the introduction of biofuels to ANA flights as well as help develop refueling operation systems at the airports.

In addition to this, ANA continues to work with 18 companies from both inside and outside of Japan on a coral regeneration project which began in 2004. With the development of coral revival techniques by local parties and the support of government entities, such as the Ministry of the Environment, Okinawa Prefecture, and Onna Village, approximately 7,000 heads of coral have been planted to date, contributing to the revival of the coral. The project has received notable awards for the initiative including the Minister's Prize, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries at the 32nd National Meeting for the Healthy Ocean in 2012, and the Environment Minister's Award, in the 3rd Good Life Awards in 2015. The project will expand its activities in 2018 by increasing the number of planting events in cooperation with Onna Village and the Ministry of the Environment, and inviting experts to participate.

2. Human Rights

ANA has responded to the growing global interest in food safety and traceability by becoming the first Japanese company to take part in the Blue Number initiative*1, a project which aims to build ethical and transparent food supply chains and protect workers in the food production industry. ANA aspires to use this platform to further strengthen the management of its supply chain for all food-related services including in-flight meals enabling it to continue providing passengers with safe, reliable food products.

3. Diversity and Inclusion

ANA is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion to improve both customer service and the workplace environment for employees. In a further move to underscore its commitment to diversity and inclusion, ANA extended the benefits of its frequent flyer programme to the LGBT community in 2016 and also established a new consultation service for LGBT employees. The expanded program is intended to improve awareness of and education about LGBT issues, starting with training for management personnel, and a review of the airline's welfare and benefits arrangements for LGBT couples.

ANA is committed to maintain a fair, equitable, and transparent corporate governance and to enhance the corporate value by conducting efficient business operations.
