Belgrade, capital of Serbia, will carry out a series of plans to attract more Chinese tourists this year.
The 38th Belgrade International Tourism Exhibition was held from February 18 to 21. At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, a video of 30s in Chinese, featuring Velimir Bata Zivojinovic (who played Valter in the movie Valter brani Sarajevo), was played. It is hoped that this video will attract the interest of Chinese tourists to visit Belgrade, since the movie Valter brani Sarajevo was once popular in China.
This advertising video is just part of the plan. It is reported that a delegation of Belgrade Tourism Bureau, Belgrade Municipal Government and some companies in Belgrade will visit Beijing in this June, and during the trip they will promote Belgrade. Before the end of 2016, the promotion will be extended to other cities of China.
According to the data provided by Belgrade Tourism Bureau, in 2015, Serbia received 1.13 million of foreign tourists, among which Chinese tourists account for less than 1.3%, about 14,200. In 2015, Belgrade received about 10,000 tourists from China, a year-on-year growth of 60%.
