This year’s edition of the Barcelona Marathon registered a record number of participants, with 20,328 entrants, 40% of whom were from abroad. Only the marathons in Paris (with 54,000 entrants in 2015), Berlin (41,000), London (38,000) and Stockholm (20,523) attract more participants than the Barcelona event, the only one in the European Top 5 that is not held in a state capital.
The 38th Edition of the Zurich Marató de Barcelona remained true to the event’s popular and festive character. Most participants shared a common goal: to complete the race. A total of 4,000 volunteers deployed around the city were on hand to provide the athletes with support and encouragement.
