Tourism in Bangkok Hikes Up; Tourism Sector Remains Unsatisfied

Bangkok tourism authorities noted a steady rise in the number of tourists, but the economic problem remained unaffected. A new survey concluded that despite of steady tourist-traffic and increasing revenue, the economic problems and market competition in Bangkok observed no change.

Tourism Authority of Thailand, Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) and Chulalongkorn University conducted a survey on 600 business operators, 350 Thai tourists and 350 foreign tourists in 2016. The survey-report got disclosed in front of the tourism industry on Tuesday 21st June.

According to the report, the tourism sector is more confident about business opportunities in the second quarter of 2016 than the first. It also suggested that the fierce competition between the business operators is increasing day by day. It was found that individual tourist prefers to spend a low sum of money during the vacation.

In the first quarter of 2016, Thailand was visited by 33.87 million tourists, which shows a hike of 13.35% from 2015. The revenue also showed a steady hike of 17.83% from the last year.

The survey report stated that foreign tourists are not completely satisfied with their trip to Bangkok due to poor transportation. The tourists expect a better service in the aviation sector as well as the transport sector.

At present, three of the main competitors of Bangkok are, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Laos. Transportation problem is making the tourists to avoid Bangkok and visit one of these three.

The study proved that Thai tourists prefer to travel during July and August because of long holidays. They also expect a good standard of service, proper transportation facility and cleanliness from the tourism sector of Bangkok.
