185.5K Tourists Visited Sanya Over New Year Days, Spent RMB671m

Sanya received 185,500 inboud tourists during the three-day 2017 New Year’s holiday, up 9.3 percent compared with the same period last year, according to statistics released by the Sanya Tourism Development Commission on January 2nd, 2017.

Tourism revenue during the holiday reached 671 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.18 percent.

Seven major scenic spots in Sanya together received a total of 196,300 visitors during the three-day holiday, down 5.21 percent compared with the same period last year.

Statistics showed that the number of visitors visiting Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone and Sanya Romance Park was 50,300 and 50,000. Tianyahaijiao Scenic Spot, Wuzhizhou Island and Yalong Bay Paradise Forest Park saw a total of 39,100, 24,800 and 17,100, respectively.

The average hotel room occupancy rate across the city stood at 84.44%, up 0.88 percent year-on-year. In Haitang Bay and Yalong Bay areas, the hotel room occupancy rate reached 85.87% and 89.31% respectively.

The per-capita consumption of overnight visitors was 1483.3 yuan per day during the holiday and the per-capita consumption of one-day tours was 479.7 yuan per person.

The Sanya International Duty-free Complex in Haitang Bay received 59,800 visitors during the holiday, generating operating revenue of 71.44 million yuan.

Sanya Phoenix International Airport and Sanya Railway Station together handled a total of 293,400 passengers from December 30th, 2016 to January 1st, 2017, a year-on-year increase of 5.97 percent. The Phoenix Airport handled 180,700 passengers, including 3,404 overseas passengers. The Sanya Railway Station received 112,700 passengers.

Sanya opened three new international air routes at the end of 2016, including the Sanya to Astana air route, the Sanya to Ulaanbaatar air route, and the Sanya to Phnom Penh air route. At present, Sanya has opened 19 international air routes with 24 flights, the four-hour, eight-hour and twelve-hour air tourism circles have gradually formed.
