Petersburg Tax Free Starts in April

From the next Tuesday, system of tax refund shopping for foreign citizens will start its work in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Sochi, and Krasnogorsk.

In a short time, the city-hosts of FIFA World Cup 2018 will join this pilot project. These cities are Volgograd, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod and Yekaterinburg. If the project will be recognized as successful, by the end of the current year it will be spread throughout the country.

The purpose of the introduction of Tax free in Russia is the awaited growth of the tourist flow. To make it easier for tourists from abroad to navigate in how to issue the tax, airports will set up a special navigation. For this purpose, foreign citizens will need to provide a passport, a receipt on the purchase of goods and the goods themselves.

Foreign tourists will be able to get VAT refund directly in cash or within a year to a current account or a bank card. They will be able to get 10-12 percent of the cost of goods when purchasing for a sum over 10 thousand rubles.

In St. Petersburg the foreign citizens will be able to issue tax free at Pulkovo airport.
