【Introduction】:Peru was recognized by the international gala awards of the 25th edition of the World Travel Awards
Peru was recognized by the international gala awards of the 25th edition of the World Travel Awards, obtaining three awards, being:
First award as "best gastronomic destination" for the seventh consecutive year. Lima is recognized and established as the main regional destination for lovers of good food. The planning and execution of the promotion of Peruvian cuisine has achieved outstanding results and positioning restaurants among the 50 best in Latin America, being:
• Maido (in first place N° 1)
• Central (N° 2)
• Astrid & Gastón (N° 8)
• Isolina (N° 13)
• Rafael (N° 16)
• Osso (N° 25)
• Malabar (N° 39)
• Amaz (N° 48)
The 50 best restaurants in the world:
• Central (N° 6)
• Maido (N° 7)
• Astrid y Gastón (N° 39)
Second award as "best cultural destination of South America", due to the archaeological heritage and the contemporary cultural life that it has.
Third award as "best tourist attraction" thanks to Machu Picchu, a prize recognized by critics and international tourists.
There were also other recognitions for Peruvian hotels, four of them managed to be placed as the best in different categories: Swissôtel Lima won the award for 'Best hotel MICE', Aranwa Cusco did it as 'Best boutique hotel', JW Marriott The Convent Cusco was recognized as 'Best hotel with cultural heritage', and the Sheraton Lima as 'Best meeting hotel and convention center'.
The World Travel Awards, considered as the "Oscars of Tourism", has 25 years of experience recognizing excellence in all sectors of the tourism industry and travel around the world. The winners' election was across the public through voting in an online platform, made up of tourism professionals, businesspersons and various travelers.
