Shanghai's Pudong Airport has opened what it is calling the world’s largest satellite terminal.
The 6.7 million-square-foot facility, which is divided into the S1 and S2 concourses, has the capacity to add 83 boarding bridges to the airport and to service as many as 80 million passengers annually, according to the Shanghai Airport Authority. The concourses are connected via train to Pudong T1 and T2 terminals.
China Eastern and other Sky Alliance partners, including Delta, will make use of S1, according to Air Transport World, while other airlines will fly out of S2. Delta, United and American all fly to the airport.
Pudong had 74 million passengers in 2018.
