Beijing Universal Resort Prepares for Opening

Construction of The Universal Beijing Resort is complete and the facility is preparing to open, according to local authorities.

The resort, located in Beijing's eastern suburban district of Tongzhou, consists of the Universal Studios theme park, the Universal CityWalk and two hotels, with 37 recreational facilities and themed attractions, 80 restaurants and 30 shops. Construction of the resort started in August 2018.

It is scheduled to open in May this year, according to Zhao Lei, head of the district government.

The resort is now making pre-opening preparations, which include improvement of the interior decoration, facility testing, tourist service rehearsals, and staff training, according to the culture and tourism management commission of Tongzhou District.

After opening, the theme park is expected to receive more than 10 million tourists per year.
