Wellington promotion activity attracts tourists at WTCF Experience Center

The “Wellington Promotion Conference” kicked off at the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) Experience Center in Beijing’s Shijingshan district on Wednesday, May 28.

Ma Lin, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing municipal government; Li Baochun, deputy secretary-general of the WTCF; and Sima Hong, deputy director of Beijing Shijingshan district, were among the leaders that attended the activity and addressed the event.

Celia Wade-Brown, mayor of Wellington, delivered an opening address. According to her, Wellington attaches great importance to the Chinese tourism market and expects to improve its popularity among Chinese people. Chinese tourists are welcomed to come and enjoy the unique charm of Wellington. She also expresses her appreciation for the WTCF’s great support in helping Wellington exploit the Chinese tourism market since the city became a member of the WTCF in August 2013.

The Wellington delegation, including representatives from government, business and education fields, took a tour in the tourism experience center. The WTCF experience center, a pilot experience park for tourists, is located in Shijingshan district, Beijing. It covers a total area of more than 500 square meters and consists of five exhibition zones and an experience zone.

The experience center is expected to bring a three-dimensional and four-dimensional city-travel experience to visitors, presenting the cityscape in a way that combines online products with face-to-face experience activities. The center is currently on trial run and will open to the public soon.

The World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) is the first international tourism organization headquartered in Beijing. It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization voluntarily formed by tourism cities and tourism-related organizations from countries and regions around the world. Under the core idea of Better City Life Through Tourism, WTCF aims at promoting the development of the tourism industry throughout the world. A total of 84 world-renowned tourism cities and 45 organizations have joined the Federation.

The WTCF will make full use of the experience center to promote the development of city tourism around the world. It will also host more promotion activities for the federation’s city and non-city members.
