【Introduction】:From December 2 to 4, 2013 the representatives of World Tourism Cities Federation Secretariat participated in the annual meeting of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada.

From December 2 to 4, 2013 the representatives of World Tourism Cities Federation Secretariat participated in the annual meeting of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada. In the afternoon of December 4, Deputy Secretary-General of the WTCF Yan Han, together with Noel Buckley, Councilor of the WTCF and President & CEO of Ottawa Tourism, and David F.?Goldstein, President of the TIAC presided over the WTCF Roundtable Meeting.

Noel Buckley highly complimented the work progress the WTCF had achieved and expressed his confidence in the future of the organization. David F. Goldstein hoped to promote communication and cooperation with the WTCF and see more Chinese tourists and investors come to Canada through the WTCF – an international communication platform of rich resources.

Yan Han gave an introduction of the WTCF to the participants, touching upon at lengths the Beijing Fragrant Hills Summit, the core of Evaluation Index System, the Tourism Laws of China and the Chinese tourism market.

This meeting attracted a large number of participants, including tourism authority heads of Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Halifax, Kamloops, Nanaimo and members of a Chinese Market Research Team organized by the TIAC.

President & CEO David Whifaker and Vice President Andrew Weir of Toronto Tourism said that they would lead a delegation to visit the WTCF in February, 2014, hoping to deepen mutual understanding between the two sides and officially join the WTCF during their visit.

The meeting participants were highly attentive to the work of the WTCF and expressed their interest in keeping contact.
