In the recently released 2016 Nordic Michelin Guide, 24 restaurant in Sweden received a total of 28 Michelin stars, of which 7 Michelin stars were newly won. Fäviken Magasinet restaurant, located in Järpen, Sweden’s northwestern ski resort, was listed in the Guide for the first time and won two stars, which was also the first time for Michelin Guide to include the Nordic non-main urban area. The newly released 2016 Nordic Michelin Guide awarded Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland with totally 65 Michelin stars, and Sweden occupies almost half of them.

The new Michelin two-star restaurant Fäviken Magasinet is located in Järpen’s idyllic countryside, and has its own guest rooms. Chef Magnus Nilsson advocates natural; the restaurant usually selects local ingredients according to the season, and cooks with unconstrained imagination, providing the guests a unique dining experience.

As the capital of Sweden, Stockholm has 10 Michelin starred restaurants and nine Bibendum recommended restaurants. Stockholm not only has the Nordic cuisine with royal standard, but also provides exotic or unique modern cuisine. Sushi Sho, newly awarded with one Michelin star, has brought more diversified gourmet experience to the capital of Nordic cuisine.

Another new Michelin one-star Restaurant, Upper House, is located in Gothia Towers, the highest building in Goteborg. With the natural advantages of rich top-level fish and shellfish along the west coast of Sweden, the restaurant provides fresh and creative exquisite cuisine according to the season. At the same time, Upper House has won global wide acclaim for its meticulous service. At present, Gothenburg owns a total of seven Michelin starred restaurants and two Bibendum recommended restaurants.

In addition to Stockholm, Goteborg and Malmo which has already got Michelin starred restaurants, the 2016 Nordic Michelin Guide included more extensive areas. At Ӧland in the southeast coast of Sweden, Borgholm restaurant won a star because of its exquisite and artistic dishes. At the same time, Daniel Berlin, a family restaurant located in Skåne Tranås and PM & Vänner, a "forest, lake and grassland" theme restaurant located in Växjö both obtained a Michelin star.
