To enhance Chengdu aviation hub’s international competitiveness, and increase its international outbound routes in the Chengdu sector, Air China plans to establish a direct intercontinental route from Chengdu to London Gatwick Airport on July 3.
According to the reporter, the flight numbers of Air China’s flight between Chengdu and London are CA423/4, and the aircraft type is the A330 provided by Air China’s Southwest branch. There will be 3 flights per week—Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. The departure and arrival time from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to London Gatwick Airport are at 15:45 and 20:00. The departure and arrival time from London to Chengdu are 22:00 and 15:40 (the next day). The flight will take about 10 hours and 40 minutes for a single trip.
This is the third direct route between Chengdu and Europe after Chengdu-Frankfurt and Chengdu-Paris, which will give travelers more choices when traveling to Europe. London Gatwick Airport is located 45 kilometers south of the London urban area. It is the second largest UK airport (next to London Heathrow Airport). It is also the world's busiest single runway airport, with annual passenger throughput ranked sixth worldwide.
