The Welcome Banquet of the 2016 Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit Holds in Chongqing

On the evening of September 18th, the Welcome Banquet of the World Tourism Cities Federation Chongqing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2016 was held at the Chongqing Yuelai International Convention Centre. Guests from tourism related industries from all over the world gathered together to celebrate the event. At the Liangjiang Hall of the Convention Centre, where the banquet was held, 3 large LED screens ignited the stage. The Chongqing scenery videoplayed in a continuous loop to fully exhibit the charm of the city which attracted attention from the guests.

The welcome banquet was hosted by Ms. Tan Jialing, DeputyMayor of Chongqing Municipal Government. Huang Qifan, Mayor of Chongqing Municipal Government, and Wang Anshun, Chairman of the WTCF Council & Mayor of BeijingMunicipal Government, attended the event and gave speeches respectively.

Huang Qifan, Mayor of Chongqing Municipal Government,delivered a speech to welcome guests to Chongqing. He pointed out in his speech that Chongqing has set a target to become one of the most important tourism cities in China, and the tourism center of Western-China area during the “Thirteenth Five Year’s Plan” period. To achieve this goal, Chongqing will launch a series of new travel routes to introduce the theme “Beautiful Chongqing with Mountain and River” to the world and improve its international influence as a world leading tourism city.

Chairman Wang said in his speech that the summit will be held regarding the issues of tourism investment, urban development and shared economy, and aim to promote the resource sharing and cooperation development of world tourism cities and inject new vitality to the sustainable and interactive development of world tourism. This is an important event held by World Tourism Cities Federation after transitioning into a new stage of development. We hope to further deepen the communication and cooperation of world tourism cities and enhance the ability to guide and promote the development of tourism cities by holding an internationalized high-level, distinctive summit.

During the welcome banquet, Chongqing provided a range of local cuisine and presented a wonderful performance with the theme of "Beautiful Chongqing with Mountain and River," which was divided into six chapters showing an enthusiastic, open and friendly Chongqing from perspectives of Ancient Chongqing, City of Ecology, City of Hot Springs, City of Cuisines food, City of Openness. The performance was dotted with interactive sessions, giving all the guests an up-close experience of the charm of Chongqing.

The songs and dances “Chuanjiang Haozi” pushed the atmosphere to its climax. Dozens of boat trackers shouted the work songs with ropes on their shoulders while passing along the guests in order to immerse the spirit of boat trackers and the charm of Ba-Yu. Finally, the song and dance performance of Mountain and River in Chongqing was a perfect end to this dinner.
