The 2018 "Guangzhou Spring Festival, Appreciating Flowers in the Flower City" Multipart Event

The 2018 “Guangzhou Spring Festival, Appreciating Flowers in the Flower City” multipart event will be held from February 13th to March 2nd, 2018. The event will showcase the wonderfulness of Guangzhou’s Spring Festival through a series of rich activities.

No. 1. Flower City Square Light Concert

Time: Each night from February 13th to March 2nd

Venue: Flower City Square, Haixinsha

The Welcoming-Spring Auspicious Trees, Logo Flower Garden, Trees of Light, and Peach Blossom Post Office will be set up in the south of the Flower City Square, which will surround the Canton Tower with the banks of the Pearl River and the New Central Axis as the background. These aspects, along with the live music, present a large-scale urban light show.

No. 2. Traditional Winter Jasmine Market

Time: Every 2:00 a.m. from February 13th from 16th, 2018

Venue: Guangzhou’s 11 districts’ traditional flower markets

The winter jasmine markets, to be organized on the major roadsides of Guanzhou’s 11 districts, will contain exhibition booths that feature flowers, potted orange trees, public welfare volunteers, winter jasmine city brand and image post office etc. On the opening day of the flower markets, the city will also organize the “Entire City Works Together to Send Auspiciousness and Chinese Antithetical Couplets” activity, during which Chinese calligraphers will be invited to write antithetical couplets and Chinese character “福 (auspiciousness/blessing)” for the citizens.

No. 3. Spring Festival Vehicle Floats Parade

Time: Each afternoon from February 17th to 19th, 2018

Venue: Tianhe Sports Center

The parade’s route is set around Tianhe Sports Center. The floats used for the parade will be decorated with seasonal flowers, which aims to present the visual feast of the flourishing of all kinds of flowers during the Spring Festival, fully embody the unique charms of Lingnan Culture and Cantonese Culture, and further enrich the cultural life of the public during Spring Festival. The parade float exhibition will be arranged at Tianhe Sports Center.

No. 4. The 24th Guangzhou Garden Expo

Time: February 13th to March 2nd, 2018

Venue: Shaxinhai, Er’sha Island Art Park, Panyu Daifu Mountain Forest Park Sub-venue

The Guangzhou Garden Expo is an important part of the annual winter jasmine city festival with the theme of “Guangzhou Spring Festival, Appreciating Flowers in the Flower City”. The expo, which is also a Lingnan art festival, uses horticultural plants and gardening techniques to exhibit the craftsmanship and art of gardens, and promotes the communication between those in the industry. At the same time, it works with culture and arts as well as the citizens’ demands of leisure to create an amazing view of welcoming the new spring in the Flower City.

No. 5. Haixinsha Fashion Flower Market 2018

Venue: Haixinsha Asian Games Park

The Haixinsha Fashion Flower Market 2018 features “flowers” as its element of design, and applies petal-patterns to decorate the market’s floor, roof, exhibition boards etc.

No. 6. The 2018 “Flowers Blooming in Golden Times, Lights Shining Across China” Yuexiu Festive Lanterns

Time: February 13th to March 2nd, 2018

Venue: Guangzhou Yuexiu Park

The annual Yuexiu lantern festival held in Yuexiu Park is an important part of the Yuexiu Guangfu Temple Fair and the winter jasmine city festival serial event with the theme of “Guangzhou Spring Festival, Appreciating Flowers in the Flower City”.

No. 7. Cantonese Pearl • Fragrant Flower City - 2018 Yuntai Garden Green Sculpture Flower Show

Venue: Yuntai Garden and Mingzhulou Tourist Attraction, Baiyun Mountain, Guanzhou

Yuntai Garden, a classical garden-style park where visitors come to appreciate the precious plants and views built with the contribution of the plants, enjoys the reputation of “Pearl of the Flower City”. During 2018’s Spring Festival, the garden will launch a large green sculpture flower expo with the theme of “Cantonese Pearl • Fragrant Flower City”.

No. 8. Lizhiwan Yongshuishanghua Market

Time: February 10th to 15th, 2018

Venue: Lizhiwan, Liwanhu Park

This festival will make full use of the advantages of Lingnan Gardens, regional style and cultural essence, and integrate the traditional festivals of Guangzhou. The festival’s opening ceremony will begin with flowers as the theme, water as the method, and dogs as the material. The Water Flower Market, Water Colors, Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition, Cantonese Opera Si Huo Ju, and other wonderful activities will be on show, to exhibit the unique water flower market of Liwan district, display the happiness and warm New Year’s atmosphere, and build the West Cultural and Commercial Tourism Brand.

No. 9. Guangfu Temple Fair

Venue: Zhongshan Road, Beijing Road and so on

The Guangfu Temple Fair multipart event will start on the 15th day of China’s first lunar month. At the event, activities that will be held include a special folk culture show, a folk culture tour, the intangible cultural heritage handicraft-making exhibition, traditional bitty commodities exhibition and sales, and traditional food exhibition and sales.
