Among them, 3000 are in New York, the other half is in Washington, D.C. Initiated by citizens, the first Washington, D.C. the first Cherry Blossom Festival was held in 1935, after that it became a tradition to organize the activity every year, during March to April to commemorate the friendship between the two countries.
