When it comes to evoking the mystery and charm of ancient China, few art forms can compare to Chinese opera; and this festival, which is presented every summer by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, is a tremendous showcase of its cultural richness. Traditional yet innovative, the Chinese Opera Festival sees celebrated artists captivate audiences in Hong Kong through a compelling mix of opera genres, including the local Cantonese opera, which is part of UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
