A Sanya delegation composed of representatives from the Sanya International Airport and HNA Airport Group jointly attended the 23rd World Route Development Forum 2017 on September 24th, with the aim of attracting highly desired new routes and increasing the frequency of flights. Among them, Mr. Liao Hongyu, President of the HNA Airport Group and Li Lingtong, President of the Sanya International Airport were invited to participate in the event.
The annual event, which this year was held at the Fira Gran Via Convention Centre in Barcelona, is an opportunity for stakeholders at the Sanya gateway to meet with airlines to determine needs for future new air services. It is also an ideal platform for highlighting the airport’s fantastic annual traffic growth.
During the proceedings of the World Route Development Forum, representatives from Sanya held substantial meetings with delegates from both airlines and airports to talk about the possibility of increasing the frequency of flights or launching new routes to Sanya.
At the forum, the Sanya delegation conducted in-depth discussions with the head of the Mallorca tourism bureau. Both sides expressed a desire to work more closely in the future.
At the meeting, a joint letter of intent was signed between the Sanya Airport and Siberia Airlines to further expand the air route network by intensifying flights from Novosibirsk, Irkutsk to Sanya and launching new international direct flights between the two regions.
