Here comes the Dubai Week in China. UnionPay International announced today that it has inked a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Dubai Duty Free. The two sides will enhance their strategic cooperation by improving the UnionPay acceptance environment while launching marketing campaigns. UnionPay International is dedicated to improving cardholders’ card using experiences together with global merchants.
This is the second Dubai Week in China, and the activity this year takes place in Shanghai from Oct. 27 to 29. Against the background of China’s the Belt and Road and Dubai’s Looking East strategies, the activity will further promote the communications between China and Dubai in economy, trade and culture. In 2015, Dubai received about 450,000 tourists from China, which has grown by 30% year-on-year. To Dubai, China has become the tourist source country with the greatest momentum.
As one of the world’s largest tourism retailers, Dubai Duty Free has stores at Dubai International Airport and Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport. Dubai Duty Free has fully accepted UnionPay cards as early as in 2011, and has launched exclusive privileges for UnionPay cardholders for several years, which were welcomed by cardholders.
This time, the two are about to deepen cooperation in three fields. First, to keep improving UnionPay’s acceptance environment at Dubai Duty Free stores, training cashiers and putting up UnionPay signage, so as to encourage cardholders to use UnionPay. Second, to offer various forms of UnionPay privileges and benefits during travel peaks to improve UnionPay services. Third, to regularly exchange and share information so as to jointly improve tourism service capability.
The UnionPay acceptance network in the UAE is quite mature, with all the local merchants and ATMs accepting UnionPay cards. Now, Atlantis the Palm Hotel, Al Maha Resort & Spa and Galeries Lafayette offer 5%-15% off for UnionPay cardholders. Cardholders may also enjoy exclusive discounts when buying city tour bus tickets or renting cards at AVIS with UnionPay cards.
