Jining

Located in the southwest of Shandong Province, Jining has jurisdiction over 11 counties and county-level cities namely Rencheng, Yanzhou, Qufu, Sishui, Zoucheng, Weishan, Yutai, Jinxiang, Jiaxiang, Wenshang and Liangshan, as well as four industrial functional zones including Jining High-tech Zone, Taibai Lake New District, Jining Economic and Technological Development Zone and Qufu Cultural Construction Demonstration Zone, with a total area of 11,000 square kilometers and a total population of 8.5 million.

Jining, with a long history and splendid culture, is the hometown of Huangdi (the Yellow Emperor), and the five great sages named Confucius, Mencius, Yanzi, Zengzi and Zisi. It is also an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and Confucian culture, with many places of interest. There are two world cultural heritage sites (Confucius Mansion, Confucius Temple and Confucius Cemetery, and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal's Jining Section). There are 41 key cultural relics sites under state protection, one 5A-level scenic spot (Confucius scenic spots), nineteen 4A-level scenic spots and 52 municipal study demonstration bases. Confucius Mansion, Confucius Temple and Confucius Cemetery in Qufu constitute one of the three major ancient architectural complexes in China. Nishan Holy Land has gradually become a "cultural leisure resort" with cultural experience, eco-tourism and leisure. In Zoucheng, Mencius's mother, who "relocated three times to choose the ideal neighborhood" and "broke the loom to show her child that the learning effort should not be interrupted". The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal stretches for 230 kilometers across Jining and is rich in cultural heritage. Li Bai once lived in Rencheng, Yanzhou, the thoroughfare of China; Weishan County has the reputation as the "Lotus Capital of China"; Archaeological Site Park of Nanwang Junction is the first batch of archaeological site parks in China; The Water Margin, one of the four famous Chinese classics, was set in Liangshan.
