On 18 March 2022, right before the International Day of Happiness, Tourism Fiji, the Fijian government's tourism marketing arm, initiated the themed promotional event in the entire Chinese market in collaboration with Hollywood movie star Rebel Wilson, launching the brand-new marketing campaign after the opening of Fiji's international border. Lately, Fiji has officially announced that the country will provide quarantine-free entry for Chinese visitors fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines produced by Sinopharm, Sinovac or any other vaccines recognized by the World Health Organization.
In the promotional videos, Hollywood actress Rebel Wilson shows the longing of modern city dwellers to hide away from the urban hustle and bustle, exemplifying the concept of "Open for Happiness" to Chinese tourists. In these videos, Rebel Wilson slowly approaches the coastline of Fiji after days of aimless drifting at sea on a fishing boat before she embarks on an unforgettable joyful journey into this land of wonders.
"I grew up in Australia and I have been to Fiji a lot as a child with my family, so I have plenty of fantastic memories of my childhood in Fiji. Working with Tourism Fiji has refreshed the best moments of my life. I love the natural splendor and the local culture there. The views of clear water and white sand are absolutely amazing, and I will never forget how warm it feels when people greet me with a smile and great hospitality. Fiji is truly a place of happiness." said Rebel Wilson.
"We are honored to have worked with so many talented people, be it the famous Hollywood actress Rebel Wilson, or the well-known local musicians, producers, and camera crews, They have done a great job." Brent Hill, CEO of Fiji Tourism, talked about the cooperation with Rebel Wilson. And he continued: "It is a historic moment for us as the 'Open for Happiness' campaign is successfully launched in key international markets around the world. Fiji has opened its doors once again and we are finally able to welcome visitors from around the world to our shores once again after a long wait. Come and meet happiness."
Situated in the heart of the South Pacific Ocean, Fiji boasts 333 tropical islands and is home to friendly Fijians. Each region of Fiji is unique. With fabulous beaches, dreamy waterfalls and world-class surfing and diving spots, the islands have attracted divers, newlyweds and families from all over the world to experience the authentic and refreshing island charm.
"With this new themed campaign, we hope to bring Chinese visitors a new inspiration for their vacations in Fiji. Although the Chinese international border is not yet open, Fiji has prepared itself well for the arrival of Chinese visitors. Once the international border of China is no longer closed, Chinese visitors can embark on a safe and happy journey to Fiji upon arrival. Chinese visitors are required to choose service providers that are certified by the Care Fiji Commitment, whose staff in all services are fully vaccinated. Fiji offers a wide range of tailored services to meet the demands of Chinese visitors, whether you are looking for a romantic island getaway or an adventurous sports trip, or you simply want to relax on the beach and enjoy a cozy moment just for yourself." Vincent Zheng, Global Director of Chinese Market and Chief Representative of Greater China of Tourism Fiji, commented.
The health and safety of local people and visitors have always been the priority for Fiji, and Fiji has implemented a number of response mechanisms in line with international standards for pandemic preparedness, committed to creating a welcoming environment where visitors feel at home. Currently, for the safety of visitors and the local residents, visitors to Fiji are required to provide a negative nucleic acid test report within 24 hours prior to departure and receive a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at a CFC-Certified resort two days after arrival in Fiji.
