【Introduction】:Budapest Airport announces new Wizz Air routes, enhancing travel from Hungary with five additional destinations, including Marrakesh, and strengthens its partnership with the airline.

Budapest Airport, operated by VINCI Airports, announces the expansion of Wizz Air’s network, with the addition of several new routes in the Winter 2024/2025 schedule, bringing even more travel opportunities to passengers flying from Hungary’s capital. This development further strengthens the long-standing partnership between the gateway and Wizz Air, which has already recorded more than 50 million passengers from Budapest since its launch in 2004.

As part of the new winter schedule, the ultra-low-cost carrier will be launching five new routes, including the highly anticipated link to Marrakesh – a popular gateway to Morocco’s rich culture and stunning landscapes. The new Marrakesh flight launched already, offering twice-weekly services.

In addition to Marrakesh, Wizz Air will also connect Budapest to the following destinations:

  • Gran Canaria: launched 22 October, with twice-weekly flights, this link offers a perfect escape to the warm Canary Islands.
  • Salerno: opened 28 October, this route will operate three times weekly, opening up southern Italy’s picturesque coastal town to travellers departing from Budapest.
  • Genova: commencing 29 October, the route will provide three times weekly services to Italy’s Ligurian coast.
  • Memmingen: launching in perfect time for Christmas travellers on 17 December; four-times weekly from “Munich West Airport”.

Furthermore, looking ahead to the Summer 2025 schedule, Wizz Air will be introducing a new service to Girona, enhancing connections to the vibrant Catalonia region in Spain.

These new winter routes add nearly 2,400 weekly seats to Wizz Air’s operations from Budapest, reinforcing its position as a key airline partner. The expansion underscores Wizz Air’s continued commitment to offering a diverse range of destinations, supporting both leisure and business travel.

“We are thrilled to welcome these new Wizz Air routes, especially the connection to Marrakesh, which marks an exciting addition to our winter offering,” said Máté Ritter, Head of Airline Development, Budapest Airport. “As Wizz Air celebrates flying over 50 million passengers from Budapest, this expansion is a testament to the strength of our partnership and our shared goal of providing convenient and affordable travel options for our passengers.”

With these new services, Budapest Airport looks forward to another successful season of growth, offering travellers even more reasons to choose Budapest as their gateway to Europe and beyond.
