The scenic Bund, night tour on the Huangpu River, authentic snacks at Chenghuang Temple... It is as if these are all that Shanghai can offer. Little attention has been paid to its industrial heritage. Factories built in the first half of the 20th century used to produce all kinds of necessities for local citizens. Today, these defunct factories have all become landmarks offering visitors brand-new and exciting experiences.

In the 20th century, Shanghai was the source of high-end domestic textiles in China. Today, one can explore Shanghai Textile Museum, which was renovated from the former Shanghai Shenxin No. 9 Textile Factory, and learn about the history of China's textile industry and the fashion brands that were popular throughout Shanghai in the past, visit clothing exhibitions held on an irregular basis, and even try to dye cloth.

Another place where you can experience handcrafting is "Fantasy Bubble" located along the Huangpu River. Built in 1923, this tourist spot was once the "largest soap factory in the Far East". Here, visitors can experience handmade soap making, walk through the passageways of the old factory, and admire the soap bubble-inspired decorations in this soap-scented venue. "Fantasy Bubble" also has a café for visitors to take a break.

For those who are looking for more cultural experiences, M50 Creative Park along the Suzhou River is a good choice. It was converted from a yarn factory and is now a gathering place for artists. Walking through the former factory, the walls of the former factory are filled with graffiti of different styles. On the right side of the entrance is an art installation shaped like a megaphone, through which you can hear the water flowing in the Suzhou River. There are also countless places for making handicrafts, allowing visitors to learn about crafting and acquire artworks just for themselves.
