GDToday: WTCF Economist: Tourism is a Magnificent Tool to Establish a Better Knowledge Between Civilizations

"Tourism is absolutely a magnificent tool to establish a better knowledge between civilizations and different cultures." Ignacio de Delás, an economist from the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) Expert Group, said in an interview with GDToday at the 2023 Beijing Culture Forum on September 14.

To this end, Delás thinks that we must focus our interests on promoting cultural tourism, because it's the way to make us better people and destinations. "We need to establish a bridge of communications between civilizations and within cultures. And tourism is an excellent way of doing it."

Delás added that, "We need only this tourism that helps us to be a better destination, that contributes to the welfare of our neighborhoods, of our citizens. We need to learn from each other in order to do and to practice in this way."

Representing WTCF at the forum, Delás revealed that their objective was to share experiences and mainly to underline the future challenges of tourism worldwide. After being related to China for more than 25 years, the economist is also amazed by the cultural and tourism development in China, especially by the "Top Ten Events for the Development of National Cultural Center in 2022" released at the opening ceremony of the forum.
