WTCF Confirms Its Leading Role as an International Tourism Organization

The World Tourism Cities Federation's ( WTCF hereafter ) council has recently approved the membership applications received from 6 cities and 4 tourism enterprises. Joining WTCF is acknowledging the Federation's proven influence and significance in urban tourism, an act as such brings confidence in the international tourism sector when facing the challenges of the pandemic.  

The new European city members Zagreb and Ljubljana, the capitals of Croatia and Slovenia respectively, both possess rich cultural heritage as urban destinations with a unique mix of history and modernity. Marbella, the fourth city member from Spain, is an established coastal city renowned for its summer holiday resorts. Located at the foot of Mount Meru, Africa's 5th highest mountain, Arusha is the first city member of Tanzania and is considered the entry point to the “safari circuit” in the northern part of the country. Last but not least is the city of Garoua, known for its surrounding national parks and being the capital of the northern region of Cameroon. It is also the first city member from this francophone country in Central Africa.

The new institutional members Qunar, CRI Online, China Tourism News, and Kuaishou, each demonstrate the strength of the Chinese tourism industry, which is duly represented in the Federation. WTCF has shown its capacity of serving its members as an efficient and acknowledged platform of exchange for knowledge and expertise with excellent business opportunities, cherished by cities and tourism stakeholders worldwide.

With the addition of 10 new members, WTCF as the leading international organization in the field of urban tourism, now englobes 153 city members and 79 institutional members, which cover 78 countries and regions across the world. The Federation will continue to promote communication and cooperation among members, striving for better recovery and revival in the post-epidemic era.
