Chongqing: "City of Hot Springs" in Southwestern China

Chongqing, a mountainous city, boasts world-class hot spring resources, which could only be compared to those in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, which is praised as the "City of Spas". Chongqing has a long history of hot springs. Based on the rich natural resources, Chongqing authority in 2005 decided to build Chongqing into the "City of Hot Springs", and make hot springs one of its four "city business cards".

Tongjing Hot Spring, known as the "world's top hot spring", locates in Tongjing Scenic Area. It tops southwestern China with its large flow capacity, variety, temperature, quality and scientific value, etc. There are 25 natural hot springs in the place, with a daily consumption as much as 30,000 tons, and the highest temperature of 62℃. Tongjing Hot Spring includes a variety of hot springs, which is the largest and most concentrated hot spring group in China. Its water is rich in minerals and microelements, with a highly therapeutic effect.

Chongqing Oriental Hot Spring Town Scenic Spot rests on the banks of Wubu River. A total of 48 hot springs have been discovered, with a general flow capacity of 5,660 tons. The major hot spring has a general flow capacity of 1,296 tons, and a temperature between 29-43 ℃. The hot cave remains at 40℃ all year round. Gufo Cave is divided into the front and back caves, which are more than 70 meters and 130 meters long respectively and can offer shelter for 300-odd people. There are also many other natural landscapes visitors can enjoy during their stay.
