Ardabil

Dating back to the 6th Century BC, Ardabil, located in northeastern Iran, stands beneath Sabalan Mountain, only 70 kilometers away from the Caspian Sea. The fortifications built by the rulers of different dynasties, the splendid bazaar, and Sheikh Safi al-din Khānegāh and Shrine Ensemble, a World Heritage site, have contributed to the historical and cultural atmosphere here. The city has been endowed with a rather amicable climate during the summer months, as many domestic and foreign tourists come here for the cool temperature.
