As the temperature rises and summer approaches, Brits across the UK will be on the hunt for things to do to make the most of the longer days and warmer evenings. But when it comes to the locations with the best entertainment options, which are the UK’s entertainment capitals?
From a seed list of 30 of the UK’s most populated cities, Betway has revealed the entertainment capitals of the UK by considering factors such as the number of art galleries, theatres and museums per city as well as the number of nightclubs and comedy events per location.
Edinburgh is named the entertainment capital of the UK
Home to Edinburgh Fringe, a yearly celebration of arts and culture, the Scottish city comes out on top as the UK’s entertainment capital. Boasting an impressive tally of over 170 comedy events per capita, along with the highest ratio of museums, art galleries, and theatres to its population, Edinburgh has much to offer for its residents and tourists.
Following shortly behind in second place is Manchester. The city is perfect for party goers, offering over 230 nightclub events equating to 59 per capita. Manchester is also a great spot for foodies, offering the highest number of restaurants per capita compared to any other city in the index.

Edinburgh isn’t the only Scottish city set to entertain the nation; Glasgow also claims a top 5 spot, placing 4th. The city offers a variety of opportunities to immerse yourself in cultural experiences boasting the second-highest ratio of galleries per capita and the fourth-highest number of theatres.
On the other hand, when considering the UK cities that are least equipped to entertain Brits, Preston, Luton, and Wolverhampton emerge as the frontrunners due to their limited array of events and entertainment offerings.
Those looking for a summer night out should head to Manchester, Leeds and Bristol
For those looking to dance their summer evenings away, the following five cities have the most to offer when it comes to nightclub events:
