Flight AY79 departed Helsinki at 12:15am , before touching down in the Japanese city at 6:29pm local time.
The inaugural flight marks the return of direct connections between Europe and Nagoya, with Finnair currently the only carrier to offer this service.
Flights will initially operate twice per week, with customers travelling to Japan able to depart on either Thursday or Sunday, while on the return, flights to Helsinki will operate each Monday and Friday.
Customers ready to jump back into Japan can enjoy return fares from London starting at £813 in Economy, £1,562 in Premium Economy, and £2,828 in Business Class, including taxes and charges.
Finnair's newly resumed route to Nagoya complements the Nordic carrier's existing flights from Helsinki to Osaka, Tokyo-Haneda and Tokyo-Narita.
All flights have been specifically timed to allow for easy connections from top UK airports, London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh and the Irish capital Dublin.
