【Introduction】:Air Serbia and China Southern Airlines'code-sharing agreement boosts Serbia-China connectivity, enhancing access to global destinations via Belgrade and Guangzhou.

Air Serbia and China Southern Airlines, Serbia and China's national airlines respectively, have signed a code-sharing agreement in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, aiming to improve airconnectivity between the two countries. The Serbian national airline has added its “JU” code to China Southern Airlines' direct Belgrade-Guangzhou flights, providing passengers with good connectivity via Guangzhou to 20 destinations in the Chinese carrier's network, including Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Singapore, Phuket, Bangkok, Seoul, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, andother cities. China Southern Airlines has placed its marketing code on Air Serbia’s direct Belgrade-Guangzhou flights, as well as on the Belgrade-Shanghai flights, thus offering passengers from southern China good connections via Belgrade to 21 destinations in Europe, including Berlin, Milan, Zurich, and Bologna.

“Over three months ago, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Southern Airlines, aiming to improve our partnership and the connectivity between Serbia and China. Theintroduction of direct routes between Belgrade and Guangzhou and Shanghai has opened further possibilities in the form of additional destinations across the networks of the two airlines, via Guangzhou and Belgrade. We will continue to search for opportunities to strengthen and expand our cooperation, with the goal of offering our passengers new travel options and enabling them to reach far-away destinations quicker and easier,” said Jiří Marek, Air Serbia CEO.

Air Serbia and China Southern Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2024, which entails further enhancement of cooperation in various areas, including code-sharepartnership, cargo operations, ground handling services, MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) services, catering, cooperation options in passenger lounges across their networks, and more. The Serbian and Chinese national airlines are exploring opportunities for further commercial collaboration, which could potentially lead to joint investments.
